One of the coolest aspects of hosting files in the local is easy ability for sharing and collaborating with your team or clients. This can work great but is an additional expense and hassle. One common solution for this is to use a VPN. You also have additional security concerns. As we’ve already mentioned, you are relying on the internet connection of your office to access the files remotely. Remote accessĪccessing your files off the on-premise server can be tedious for another of reasons. And lastly, if you have an internet outage, if you are trying to access the server remotely, you will not be able to access it. ![]() First, when you have a power outage your servers and desktops cannot be used. Secondly, if you were to have a fire or break-in, your files are at risk. There are three disadvantages to storing files locally. Disadvantages To On-Premise File Storage: 1.
